EDVR legacy data: A note in the New Amerola graphic, issue no. 36—spring 1981—carried mention of -9 of this recording (cat. no. 20606) having been found coupled with BVE-34702-4 by The Duncan Sisters—and pressed with—presumably professionally affixed labels—by Columbia. The Columbia record is labeled no.15167-D and the label reads Elzie Floyd and Leo Boswell, "The two orphans" on one side and "Lonesome valley" on the other. On playing the record, however, the Victor versions of BVE-16014 and BVE-34702 were found to have been substituted for the labeled numbers. The Victor Electric Catalogue numbers were also discovered in the waxes. According to the above-mentioned magazine: "The record appears to be laminated and made of Columbia materials but is thinner than usual due to the Victor matrices used. The edge has never been smoothed out, as is normally done." |
