Brunswick matrix [Broadcasting 2]. [Unknown title(s)] / Orchestra (unidentified; Brunswick Records)

  • Description: Rehearsal and radio broadcast
  • Category: Instrumental and vocal
Notes
From Brunswick recording sheet: "Rehearsal - 18 men (2 hrs); Broadcasting - (18 men) 1 hr."
Laird: On the recording sheet under Artist are two notations: “Flute obbligato” and “Eng. horn used” - but no musicians are identified. No other details are provided.
The session is one of 14 identified by Brunswick as "Broadcasting." Laird notes that the entries are believed to indicate studio use for live broadcasts of a series of radio programs titled the "Brunswick hour of music." The studio orchestra was used to accompany featured vocalists and perform instrumental selections.
Documentation of Brunswick Records derives primarily from Ross Laird's "Brunswick Records: A discography of recordings, 1916-1931" (Greenwood Press, 2001). See the ADP Brunswick Records Resources page for more information.
