Brooks/Rust: "mxs 2000-2999 were reserved for recordings made in the Far East, beginning c. April 1903 (see mxs 1260-1350 for an earlier Far Eastern series). The few that have turned up in the U.S. are all Japanese, with labels in that language; Japanese collectors indicate that catalogs of them exist in that country. A few are listed in the April 1904 Columbia Record. [Included in the Columbia master book discography are some representative examples beginning with mx. 2000 'played by the military band upon the occasion of the military review by His Majesty, the Mikado.'"
